Good morning Corey!
Wow! Excellent work! I can see that you are not a total beginner to drawing.
Your observations skills picked up on accurate facial proportions. Even though people look very different from one another, almost all human faces fall within a generic set of guidelines for both the horizontal and vertical placement of features. :o)
PASS
As you may already know, the assignments for the first two weeks allow me an opportunity to review your current skill level and pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses so that I can modify the curriculum to fit your needs.
Most artists begin drawing with a few bad habits. So far, I see no problems. First of all, your lines seem to be lightly rendered. Well done! Pressing too hard with pencils is the number one bad habit and it's a tough one to break!
I also see that you used a line of symmetry to help you render accurate proportions! Excellent! This is a technique you will use frequently over the next 6 weeks! The shading of the eyes is well done and adds an element of realism to your drawing.
Keep up the great work Corey! The first two weeks are pretty easy-going, but from Week 3 onward, you will be investing several hours a week doing (and redoing) assignments. You are off to a great start! :o)
