How do self-help apps track and influence your dopamine habits?

Lately I’ve been thinking about how much my daily habits are shaped by apps without me even noticing. A few months ago I started using a couple of self-help apps to improve focus, and at first it felt helpful — reminders, small goals, that kind of thing. But over time I realized I was checking them almost as often as social media. It made me wonder: are these apps actually helping regulate dopamine, or just replacing one habit loop with another? Has anyone else felt like they got more dependent on them instead of more balanced?
