Could the Lakers fall into the play-in zone despite their star power?

I caught part of a Lakers game with my brother the other night, and it turned into a whole debate about whether big names are enough to stay safely in the playoff picture. On paper, they still look scary because of the star power, but during the season there are always injuries, tired legs, road trips, and those weird games where the team just looks flat. Do you think the Lakers could realistically slide into the play-in zone, or is that just people overreacting?
