Running a sole proprietorship

Hi, can you please give me a hint if anyone can help. I am on the cusp of registering as a sole proprietor to start buying and selling goods and making some money for myself. I haven't made the leap yet, but I've already downloaded all the software I need for bookkeeping, etc., and I keep looking for new reading material to make sure I understand what is required. But now I'm wondering how to start registering my business?
