Ping-Pong, another name for table tennis, is a ball game played on a flat table that is split into two equal courts by a net fastened across its width in the middle. Today, it's one of the sports that is played most frequently all around the world. Table tennis is a simple sport to learn, despite the fact that it may seem difficult to play.

Table tennis is based on a parlor game that British Army officers stationed in South Africa and India used to play in the 1880s. They played a sport with spherical wine bottle corks for balls and cigar box tops for bats that was essentially unrecognizable from the game practiced today. The sport naturally resembles a hybrid of tennis and badminton, both of which gained popularity towards the close of the 19th century. Most participants referred to the sport's early iteration as Ping-Pong. In the end, the name table tennis was chosen in 1921 and has since grown to be the most well-known for the activity.

A table tennis table measures 2.74 meters long, 1.525 meters broad, and is 76 centimeters off the ground. Players use a small racket to strike a lightweight plastic ball across a table (also called a bat or paddle). Celluloid table tennis balls have been used since 1902, however they are currently being phased out. All international competitions use plastic balls as of July 1, 2014. The objective of standard play is to return the ball to your opponent's side of the table, allowing it to bounce just once on your side before striking it with your racket. If your opponent fails to bring the ball back to your side of the table, you score a point. Each time this occurs, the winning player receives one point. Except in games tied at 10 points apiece, where one player must gain a lead of two points, the game is won by the person who reaches 11 points first. In official competitions, there are typically an odd number of games, and the majority of the games must be won by one individual.

A serve initiates a play. Serves must land on the box that is diagonally opposite from them on the other side.
