4B, 2B, HB, 2H, & 4H Staedler clutch pencils on Canson XL paper, smooth side. For the 4B and 2B second set of squares, I did try using pressure to achieve the darkness. However, I have arthritis in my hands that makes pressing hard rather painful, so I reverted to using multiple regular pressure layers in multiple directions to achieve the saturation of tone I'm guessing you were looking for.--K.
