Mini-Baccarat - The Unsung Hero of Casino Gaming
The European version has existed for around 150 years, give or take. Chemin de Fer, its distant cousin played with a completely different set of rules, is much older. It was once favored by Europe’s royalty and wealthy industry. It is likely that this is where the game got its reputation as a "high rollers'" exclusive game.
Tommy Renzoni was the Baccarat dealer at the Capri Hotel & Casino, Havana in the 1950s. He was said to have discovered this particular variant of the game at the time being played in Argentina.
The mob controlled the casinos of Havana at that time. It was a resort popular with Hollywood's elite and the wealthy. When Castro toppled the Batista government in 1959, he immediately closed the casinos and forced the mob out of Cuba. The deal was sweet for a time, but it had to end.
Tommy Renzoni, who was hired to run the Baccarat games at the Sands Hotel & Casino Las Vegas for its opening, was the perfect timing. Renzoni was the one who, by a stroke or fortune, introduced to Vegas today's American Baccarat.
The American version is the simplest of all. You can choose to bet on the "player" or "bank" hands. It's a simple coin toss. It is only possible to bet that a tie will appear (a wager no sane individual would place, but I see this done often). The bet is even money on both sides with the exception that a small fee will be charged for winning bank hands.
This is because the rules of the games favor the winning bank hand slightly more than the winning player hand. The outcome would have been skewed in favor of the bank side without the 5% commission.
The goal of the game will be to reach a total as close to 9 as possible. All face cards and tens have zero value. Therefore, a 5 with a queen is a total of 5. The rules for the drawing of the cards are not necessary to know because the procedure is controlled by the pit bosses and dealers.
There are no complex decisions in craps, blackjack or roulette. Decide how much you want to wager and on which side. It couldn't be easier.
The aura surrounding the game makes it seem out of reach to many casino patrons. Over the years, it has been shown in James Bond movies (007) as the hero fighting against the villain. Remember that all players are playing against the casino and not each other. The high stakes tables and roped-off table areas can be intimidating.
Mini-Baccarat is the answer. In an effort to increase the accessibility of the game to the casino patron, the casinos created the mini-baccarat tables. The mini-baccarat table was a success, but it hasn't gained the same acceptance as the other more popular table games.
Betting Systems
Mini-baccarat suits most betting and playing systems that perform well in a win-loss environment. Betting systems that rely on parlay (doubling) bets do well because there are only two possible outcomes.
You will often see runs of 2, 4, 5 or 6 on bank hands, as well as player hands. One night, I was playing at the Tropicana and saw an amazing run of 22 consecutive bank hands. After the fourth bank win I had the instinct and sense to continue my winning streak. This allowed me to achieve 18 consecutive wins. It's safe to say that it was an excellent night. This is a remarkable run, but streaks are common in this game.
You have a one-to-one chance of correctly predicting the outcome if you flip a coin. A player who parlays their first win (playing two consecutive wins) has a one in three chance of winning. The player will receive a payout of 3 to 1. Parlaying $10 on two wins will result in $40. Three to one is the odds of correctly predicting two consecutive outcomes.
If the player wins three consecutive games, the winning bets will decrease but the payout will increase to 7 to 1. A $10 bet would return $80.
A sound betting strategy involves increasing the amount of winning bets over time. This allows you to take advantage of the extended streak of winnings that is certain to occur, and also protects your capital in the event of a "choppy" outcome.
This is how a betting sequence might look:
10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50
A player would not lose money if they placed a wager on the second in the series.
After the first bet, the player risks $5 and wagers $15.
If the player wins the third bet, he or she will win $20 if they wager $25.
The player wins $40 after wagering $30.
The player wins $65 by betting $40 on the fifth.
A series of seven wins would bring $150, and the next wager is still $50. All of this with a $10 starting bet. After any loss, the player returns to the $10 starting bet.
This method allows the player to increase their bets when they win while keeping a low bet minimum during losing hands. Professional gamblers use this type of money management to take full advantage of winning cycles and protect their bankroll during losses. This ensures that the winning bets are much higher than the losing bets.
Mini-baccarat is a great game for beginners, even though the cards are dealt quickly. This allows the player to get used to the game, and focus on the strategy of the game บาคาร่า.
You'll know if you've ever read anything I've written that I love Baccarat. Mini-baccarat is the same game with the same low house percentage and low minimums. It gives players a good chance to win big. You might be able to pay for your next casino trip.
