In this tournament, WT ranking points are awarded according to the ranking, and the first and second place finishers in each weight class are qualified to participate in the 2023 China Taiyuan Grand Prix Series to be held in October this year.

If the nationality of the 1st and 2nd place players in each weight category is the same, one next-ranked player of a different nationality will be given the right to participate instead of the 2nd place player.

The Grand Prix Challenge is a competition for athletes ranked 71st or lower in the Olympic rankings, and this is the second time.

WT created this tournament last year for promising players who had few opportunities to participate in international competitions, and many players seized the opportunity and made a leap forward.

Park Tae-joon (Kyunghee University), who won the men's 58kg class in the first competition, is the greatest star produced by the Grand Prix Challenge.

After winning the Grand Prix Challenge, he won the Asian Taekwondo Championships and the World Grand Prix, and even won the World Championship last month, growing into a representative of the national team.

Dark horse Seo Geon-woo (Korea National Sport University) in the men’s 80kg class also won the Grand Prix Challenge last year and earned the right to participate in the World Grand Prix Series.

'Superstar' Lee Dae-hoon, coach of Daejeon Metropolitan City, who joined as the national team coach last May, will serve as the national team coach for this tournament as well.
