Soon-woo Kwon reaches US Open main draw for fifth straight year will play first three rounds

Last year's and 2020's second-place finishes were the best in the competition

South Korean men's tennis standout Kwon Soon-woo (Dangjin City Hall) will compete in the main draw of the US Open.

Tennis publication TennisUpToday announced Kwon Soon-woo's entry into the main draw of the US Open on Monday (June 18).

After Marin Cilic (Croatia) and Denis Shapovalov (Canada) withdrew due to injuries the day before, Kwon, who was the No. 1 player on the reserve list, was given the opportunity to compete in the main draw.

This is the fifth consecutive year Kwon has qualified for the main draw of the US Open.

Kwon's best results at the US Open are second-round finishes last year and in 2020. This time, she will be competing in the third round of the first singles.

She is also returning from injury.

Kwon Soon-woo has been focusing on his recovery since being diagnosed with inflammation in his right shoulder at the Qatar Exxon Mobile Open on the men's ATP Tour in Doha, Qatar, in February.

Ahead of his six-month comeback, he traveled to Florida earlier this month to prepare for the US Open.

The US Open, the third major tournament of the year, will be held at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City, U.S.A., 스포츠토토 starting on April 28.
