Gwangju FC's Um Ji-sung, 21, has won the Young Player of the Month award for the second time in two years.

The Korea Football Association (KFA) announced on Jan. 31 that Uhm has been selected as the winner of the Lemona Young Player of the Month Award.

The Young Player of the Month Award is given to Korean players aged 23 or younger (born in 2000 or later) in the K League 1 who are three years or younger (debuted in the 2021 season or later) from the year they made their first appearance in an official K League match.

Among them, players who appeared in more than half of their team's total playing time in the month will be nominated, and the winner will be determined by discussion and vote of the members of the Technical Study Group (TSG) under the Federation's Technical Committee.

This is the second Young Player of the Month award in two years for Uhm, who was named the inaugural winner in August 2021 when the award was established.

He appeared in all 25-28 rounds of the K League 1, which were evaluated for the Young Player of the Month Award, and recorded two goals and one assist. In the 28th round against Suwon Samsung on August 27, the last game of the month, he scored multiple goals to lead Gwangju to a 4-0 victory.

Uhm will receive a trophy and a cash prize of 1 million won. The award ceremony will be held at the Gwangju Football Stadium when Gwangju hosts Jeonbuk Hyundai next month 19가이드03 on August 24.
