Salary increases for Sands China Limited employees

In Macau, local Sands China Limited of U.S. casino giant Las Vegas Sands has reportedly announced plans to raise the salaries of some full-time employees by nearly 5% starting in March.

The Hong Kong-listed company is responsible for Venetian Macao, Plaza Macao, Sands Macao, Sands Cotai Central and Paris Macao properties and will increase the salary of full-time workers who return home to less than $1,490 a month now by about $74 per month, with those earning above that threshold receiving an average pay increase of 2.5%.

Sands China Limited also pays a discretionary bonus equivalent to a minimum of one month's salary to employees who are eligible for at least 12 months of service.

According to a statement, Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Limited, said, "Sands China is pleased to announce salary increases and discretionary bonuses for its valued team members with appreciation for their contributions."

Wong has reportedly brought "many challenges to our operations" over the past 12 months, including the impact of Typhoon Hato in August, but company employees have reportedly declared that they have "continued to provide an unparalleled service experience to our guests" and at the same time "helped restore normalcy throughout Macau through various disaster relief activities."

"With the inclusion of the Londoner project in the pipeline, the future looks promising for us, and I am confident that it will be a year of success and achievement with the continued commitment of our team members," read a statement from Wong.
