Chanmin Chung wins second career KPGA Golf Zone-Doray Open title

Defeated Kang Kyung-nam in a playoff for his second win of the season
"I didn't expect to win, but I'm very happy"

Chung Chan-min won the Korean Professional Golf (PGA) Tour's Golf Zone-Dorey Open (total prize money: 700 million won, winner's share: 140 million won).

Chung carded one eagle, six birdies and one bogey for a 7-under-par 65 in the fourth round of the tournament at Seonsan Country Club (Par 72) in Gumi Golf Zone County, Gyeongsangbuk-do, on Friday.

With a final total of 21-under-par 267, he tied with Kang Kyung-nam for the title in a playoff.

Chung birdied the second hole of the extra playoff to overtake Kang, who had to settle for par. It was his second career victory after winning the GS Caltex Mae Kyung Open in May.

Chung is now 14th in Genesis points (3419.00P) and 5th on the Genesis money list (528.48 million won).

He said, "It feels great to record my second win of the season. It came faster than I expected after my first win. I was aiming for multiple wins after my first victory," he said, "I didn't expect to win this tournament, but I'm very happy with it."

"Golf Zone County Sunsan is a course that favors long hitters. I think that worked in my favor. I thought I needed an eagle on the last 18 holes to extend the tournament, but I was able to birdie it and get it done," he laughed.

"After the season, I will focus on my shoulder and weights. I plan to increase my muscle mass as much as I had treatment," he said, adding, "Next year, I will challenge to enter the Confederation Tour."

Kim Dong-min and Kim Han-byul finished in a tie for third place with a final total of 19-under par 269. 19가이드03
