MLB owners' meeting unanimously approves Athletics relocation

Moving from Oakland to Las Vegas

The Major League Baseball (MLB) Oakland Athletics' relocation has been unanimously approved by MLB owners.

MLB's 30 owners unanimously approved a proposal to move the Athletics from Oakland, California, to Las Vegas, Nevada, at their meeting in Arlington, Texas, on Sunday.

All 30 owners were in favor of the move, which required a 75 percent vote.

"We've been working for more than a decade to find a solution to the Athletics' stadium issues, and (the move) was the preference of the Athletics' owners and myself," said MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred. "This is a terrible day for Oakland fans. "It's a terrible day for Oakland fans, but there was nothing we could do to stop the move.

Athletics President John Fisher said: "This will be a very difficult day for Oakland fans. We did everything we could to find a solution in Oakland, but there was no way," said Athletics President John Fisher. "We are thrilled to have this opportunity in Las Vegas."

The Athletics were founded in Philadelphia in 1901, moved to Kansas City in 1955 and have called Oakland home since 1968.

However, the team struggled to operate in its 55-year-old home because the facilities were far below MLB standards.

In April, the Athletics decided to relocate and purchased a 49-acre (198,296-square-meter) site near the Las Vegas Strip area. The team plans to spend $1.5 billion to build the new stadium.

The state of Nevada welcomed the move and passed a supportive bill providing $380 million for the stadium.

The Athletics' current lease at Oakland's Levi's Central Coliseum runs through 2024, and the new stadium is expected to be completed in 2028. A temporary home for 2025-2027 has yet to be finalized.

Commissioner Manfred said: "We are exploring a number of options, including staying in our current home for a few more years on a temporary basis. We're looking at ways to keep our 81 home games in one location." 카지노사이트존
