Missing 'People's Ronaldo' Han Kwang-sung captured three years after World Cup qualifier
Qualifying for the second round of the North and Central American World Cup in Asia
North Korean soccer player Han Kwang-sung, dubbed the "People's Ronaldo" after his move to Italian Serie A giants Juventus, has returned to international competition after a three-year absence.
On July 17, Han played in North Korea's second Asian qualifier for the 2026 North American Football Confederations Cup in Syria on Saturday, Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported. Han played the first half before being replaced by Baek Cheong-sung, and the match ended in a 1-0 win for Syria.
It has been four years since Han Kwang-sung played for the North Korean national team in November 2019 at the Qatar 2022 World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
His last appearance was in August 2020 for Qatar's Alduhail SC.
Han Kwang-sung shocked the world when he moved to Juventus in 2019. He became the first North Korean player to score a goal in Europe's top five soccer leagues.
However, he has not been seen since international sanctions prevented him from playing overseas. In September, RFA reported that Han Kwang-sung returned home with other North Koreans via Beijing, China, in August, after North Korea's border blockade was lifted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 카지노사이트
