Hi Sam, some of these broad strokes are what we would call a traditional 'broad' stroke, however many of them are a little bit too pale on one side. We need to see a nice clear wide stroke for this one. Make sure that your pencil is resting as flat to the page as you can (and plenty of graphite is exposed. if you are drawing on a soft surface, next time try drawing on a slightly firmer surface to notice the difference. The surface we draw on does make a difference but sometime it is just the quality of the pencil that is hindering our progress. I think your pencil is okay here, the problem is that there is not enough pressure on the part of the pencil that is furtherest away from the tip (in the graphite section.) This means you have put plenty of presssure on the tip but not enough on the part further back. If you have another go, try holding your pencil flatter to the page and resting on a firmer surface. Also let me know what brand of pencils you are using just for future reference. Cheers!
