Figure skater Kim Hyun-gyeom, winner of the comeback, wins Gangwon 2024 gold First Korean male athlete
The second Korean player to do so after Yoo Young at the 2020 Lausanne Games
Kim Hyun-gyeom (Han Advertising), a promising figure skating athlete, became the first Korean male singles athlete to receive a gold medal at the Winter Youth Olympics.
Kim Hyun-gyeom received 147.45 points, including 77.29 technical score (TES) and 70.16 artistic score (PCS), in the men's single free skating competition held at the Gangneung Ice Arena in Gangwon-do on the 29th.
Kim Hyun-gyeom took first place with a total score of 216.73 points, including the short program (69.28 points) on the 27th.
With this, Kim Hyun-gyeom became the first Korean athlete to win a gold medal in men's figure skating at the Winter Youth Olympics, which started in 2012 and is now in its 4th year.
If you count women's singles, it is the second time in history. Previously, Yoo Young won a gold medal at the 2020 Lausanne Games.
Kim Hyun-gyeom, who was third in the short program, achieved a come-from-behind victory by performing without any major mistakes in the free skating.
The gap with Jacob Sanchez (USA), who was first in the short program, was 7.1 points, but Sanchez succeeded in raising his ranking to first place while falling to fourth place due to a series of mistakes.
Adam Hagara (Slovakia) took the silver medal with 216.23 points, and Li Yanhao (New Zealand) took third place with 208.84 points.
Kim Hyun-gyeom neatly jumped his first task, the quadruple toe loop, earning a base score of 9.50 and a performance score (GOE) of 0.41.
He then performed the triple axel perfectly, earning a GOE of 1.37 points.
Although the triple Lutz-triple toe loop combination jump was judged as attention (be careful of using the edge), the subsequent triple flip was completed without a mistake.
Kim Hyun-gyeom, who performed the Flying Camel Spin at level 4, the highest level of difficulty, made a mistake on his jump in the latter half of the performance, which was worth 10% extra points.
In the triple Lutz-triple toe loop combination jump, the GOE was deducted by 1.43 points as it was judged as attention and quarter landing (when the jump rotation speed is less than 90 degrees).
He then lost the GOE in the triple loop-double axel-double axel sequence jump and triple salchow due to a quarter landing decision.
After completing all of the jumping tasks, Kim Hyun-gyeom continued his performance with a Correo sequence and finished his performance with a change foot combination spin (level 4) and a flying change foot combination spin (level 4).
Kim Hyun-gyeom, who performed without any major mistakes, clenched his fists and raised his arms in joy. 카지노
