Sue, the shaded area is beautiful, the soft edge itself is just a little too distinct. this needs to be softenned just a touch more, by running your HB halfway through both of the tones, ie: lay your pencil in a horizontal direction accross the vertical rectangle and shade up and down the vertical line with half of the graphite section on the darker area and the otehr half of the graphite section on the lighter tone. you have possibly already done this a number of times, but please just do this another couple of times. This will blurr the edge but maintain the difference in tones. What we want to see is an edge but no line, it is a soft, smouldering fuzzy edge.

Fantastic work in the larger shaded section adn the lighter tone too. this is just the join that you are working on now.
Cheers!
