'Bangkok better than Seoul', Rajamangala turf in top condition...'South Korea and Thailand both start training'
The turf at Rajamangala National Stadium is in excellent condition.
The South Korea national football team (ranked 22nd in the FIFA rankings), led by interim head coach Hwang Sun-hong, will face Thailand (ranked 101st in the FIFA rankings) on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. (ET) in the fourth Group C match of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2026 Canada-Mexico-USA (North & Central America) Asia Region Second Qualifying Round at Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. South Korea (W7, D2, L1, P9, +8) are currently in first place, while Thailand (W4, D1, L1, P5, +4, +1) are in second place.
In their last match, South Korea drew with Thailand at Anbang. It was Korea who had the first laugh. In the 42nd minute, after a Jung Woo-young penetrating pass and Lee Jae-sung cutback, Son Heung-min found the back of the net with a neat finish. However, they were unable to hold on to their hard-earned lead. Thailand broke the deadlock 17 minutes into the second half when substitute Supanat Mueanta slotted home a low cross. 텍사스홀덤 After missing out on the three points, Hwang Sun-Hong-ho traveled to Thailand and arrived in Bangkok ready to fight.
The rematch in five days will take place at the Rajamangala National Stadium, Thailand's soccer mecca. Opened in 1998, Rajamangala National Stadium was built for the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok. Its capacity was reduced from 65,000 to 48,900 after renovations.
The local atmosphere is beyond imagination. According to the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), 35,000 people attended the last home game against China last November, the first match of the second round of World Cup qualifying. But for the fourth round match against South Korea, all 48,900 seats were sold out within a week of tickets going on sale.
Despite the hot and humid weather, the ground conditions are very good. FAT shared a photo of the Rajamangala National Stadium turf on its official channel on the 22nd. The condition is much better than the stadium at the Seoul World Cup, where the players expressed their disappointment.
Thailand has begun preparations for the Korea match. Thailand's Siam Sports reported, "The national team has started training. The training took place at 6 p.m. (local time) on Friday, Feb. 22 at the BG Training Center training ground (Patum United training ground). Head coach Masatada Ishii kept the practice light to adapt to the very different weather conditions and focused on fitness maintenance and rehabilitation."
South Korea will also hold its first official training session in Thailand at 6:30 p.m. ET.
