Studio City Macau to launch Phase 2 construction
The president of Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited in Macau and Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited, an Asian casino operator, reportedly plans to begin phase two construction of the huge Studio City Macao venue by the end of the year.
Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, who serves as chairman and CEO of the Hong Kong-based company, made the announcement Thursday during a conference call to discuss its third-quarter financials.
The Macau government has mandated that Melco Resorts and Entertainment Limited will have completed all work on the planned expansion of the 1,600-room Kotai Streep concert hall by the end of July 2021. Ho's disclosure comes after his company missed its originally intended September start date.
"We have budgeted $1.35 billion to $1.41 billion for Studio City Macao expansion, hoping to begin construction before the end of the year. Studio City Macau is expected to have two hotel towers, a cineplex, one of the world's largest indoor water parks, and additional gaming spaces."
Melco is also responsible for the residence's City of Dreams Macao and reports say the 1,400-room venue plans to unveil three new luxury villas for the Morpheus hotel, as well as an extensive overhaul of its fellow 290 Nuwa facilities.
City of Dreams Macao's chief operating officer, David Sisk, reportedly told investors that Melco plans to completely renovate the facility's luxury hotel, The Countdown Hotel, before reopening its 26-room facility as Libertin.
"We have space for three villas because we had space on hold when we built Morpheus. We're also going to add two large suites. We're designing it now and it's going to be great for the market. It's a very modern design. He is a very dynamic person in France because he is the same designer who did Ducasse and Voyage for us." 슬롯
