Clarion Gaming launch CHIPS charity partnership at ICE London

Clarion Gaming managing director Kate Chambers has launched a new partnership with gaming industry charity CHIPS, which has raised more than £2 million to provide custom wheelchairs for children with severe mobility issues, taking advantage of ICE London's opening day, the world's most influential gaming fair.

The Halley Hickling-Allen group was the first beneficiary of the partnership. Diagnosed with polymorphic (MLCRD) syndrome, which limits mobility due to difficulties in balancing and controlling muscles, Harley received a new lightweight chair in a presentation set in a showpiece event for the industry, which remains the biggest contributor to Chips.

Linda Lindsey, co-founder of the charity, who attended the overwhelming majority of the organization's 500 wheelchair presentations, said, "Harley can walk for short distances on a 'K' walker, but his existing wheelchair is heavy and makes him tired quickly, limiting his participation in some activities both at school and outside of school. The provision of this new lightweight wheelchair, courtesy of Clarion Gaming, will change his life and that of his family. It will allow Harley to walk around in self-propulsion without getting tired so he can fully enjoy life."

She added: "Chip only exists thanks to the generosity of the vast majority of people active in the gaming industry and our supporters who display or attend ICE London as visitors. I'm truly excited and very grateful that Kate and Claion Gaming's team supports us and makes sure that more kids like Harley receive the precious gift of mobility and freedom along the way."

Reflecting on the partnership, Kate Chambers said, "Ice London is currently a premier gaming technology event, but it was originally founded as part of ATEI, a brand that we still own and whose roots date back around 80 years. In that sense, Clarion Gaming is a significant part of the fabric of the industry and I'm excited to be able to support industry-led charities that do very valuable work with families in the community.
