All S. Korea casinos now request jabs or test certificates for entry

All casinos in South Korea are now required to ask their customers to confirm that they have completed the COVID-19 vaccination process or have a valid "negative" test result. The rule has been in effect since Jan. 11, with the most recent foreign-only casinos being asked to comply, confirmed to the GGRA on Friday by a spokesperson for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The rule applies until further notice when it comes to foreign-only venues.

Evidence of a 'booster' shot – typically a third jab is only required if a customer has received their first vaccine dose more than six months in advance to enter a casino. A 'negative' test result certificate must be issued within 48 hours of the customer wishing to enter.

According to the GGRA, the Daegu casino operated by Golden Crown Ltd has been allowed to comply with the new rules until Jan. 26.

Jeju, a semi-autonomous region with foreigner-only casinos and its own regulatory system for games independent of mainland Korea, has been applying these entry rules since Dec. 18.

Currently, casinos operating in Jeju are Jeju Shinhwa World Landing Casino operated by Hong Kong-listed Landing International Development Co., Ltd., Jeju Dream Tower Casino operated by Korea Exchange-listed Lotte Tour Development Co., Ltd., and Paradise Jeju operated by Korea Exchange-listed Paradise Co., Ltd.

Kangwon Land, the operator of Kangwon Land, which is the only casino in Korea that can bet on locals, has a separate agreement.

It also requires you to enter either proof of vaccination or a valid "negative" result, but for now, the protocol is only guaranteed until February 6.

Kangwon Land's current daily operating hours are shorter than before the pandemic and will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

It is said that the admission conditions of all casinos are in accordance with the current social distancing rules in Korea designed as a COVID-19 measure.
