RGB Eyes Myanmar Game Box Biz

Gaming equipment maker RGB International Bhd is exploring business opportunities in Myanmar, the online edition of Malaysia's The Star newspaper cited.

Myanmar's parliament will approve a bill to approve the establishment of foreigner-only casinos in May, the Myanmar Times newspaper reported on March 31.

"We are studying the market now because we have already received inquiries from potential casino operators in Myanmar," said RGB managing director Chuah Kim Sea, as quoted by The Star.

At the end of March, the Bursa Malaysia-listed company RGB International reported fourth-quarter and full-year 2018 results, with an annual profit of 35.2 million MYR ($8.6 million) compared to 30.3 million MYR in 2017. Revenue rose 50.3% to 379.3 million MYR in 2018.

In 2019, the group aims to install 1,770 additional game consoles across Asia, 1,300 of which will head to the Philippine market, according to a report by The Star on Monday.

In Cambodia, RGB International will install 280 machines this year, the executive said.
