FanDuel Leads New York Mobile Sports Betting In September

In September, New York saw the start of another exciting NFL and college football season, and the online sports betting market increased the size of bets. But in terms of operator performance, PanDuel still has a firm grip on the local market and accumulated the most betting activity of all sports books in September.

After years of legislative work, Empire State launched mobile sports betting in January this year, allowing it to run a total of nine sportsbook apps. And even after less than a year of operation, the market has already surpassed $10 billion in total bets, making it the top sports betting market in the United States.

Since the start of the NFL and college football seasons in early September, FanDuel has reported the largest amount of processed bets among other operators. The company generated $466.8 million in handling, ahead of $76 million for the second operator in the market at the time. This amount was $392 million in DraftKings.

For the month of September, Panduel reported the largest gross revenue, generating more than $61 million in total revenue, much more than DraftKings' $39.8 million. During the month, Caesars Sportsbook was the third most popular app with a total handle of over $152.6 million, meaning the operator's total game revenue of over $166.4 million.

Late last week, the New York State Gaming Commission said nine operators collected a total of $301,639,691 in handling for the week of September 25, 2022. Panduel fell slightly to $122,029,798 and DraftKings to $97,694,658, followed by Caesars Sportsbook to $39,429,501. The fourth and fifth places were taken by BetZM and Betreverse with $23,865,591 and $8,797,193, respectively.

According to local regulators, nine apps contributed $29,836,595 in total gaming revenue. Taxed at 51%, taxed at $15.2 million. Panduel posted the biggest GGR at $13,318,008, followed closely by DraftKings at $10,040,540. Caesars came in third with $3,818,314, while BetMGM and Betriver came in fourth and fifth with $1,998,159 and $454,252, respectively.

Meanwhile, local experts have given the state's online sports betting market a lot of confidence in the NFL season after a relatively quiet summer. Rob Williams, executive director of the New York State Game Board, believes the state could hit more betting milestones and even $500 million in tax revenue as it enters its first NFL season.

It was right that regulators had high hopes for the NFL season as soon as they began their weekly handling of online sports betting. In addition, Geocomply confirmed that more than 103 million geographic location checks were conducted domestically during the first week of NFL games. More than 15.7 million, or 15.2%, came from Empire State and passionate betting companies.
