Antioch City Rejects Waterfront Hotel and Casino Offers

The Antioch City Council on Mar. 1 rejected plans to host luxury hotels and casinos in the city's waterfront neighborhood. Al-Sianpitch and his partner Paul Shea were hoping to win approval for a city-owned 10.5 acre, 200-room, five-star hotel and Las Vegas-style gambling house between Fulton Shipyard and Roger Point.

Prior to the decision, Xianpitch and Cher told lawmakers that the project would stop at the San Francisco-Yosemite-Los Angeles circuit with the tourism company's Asian customers, a group he expects would bring enormous wealth to the city's finances. Xianpitch even reportedly said that the city's bean counters would have too much money to count -- and they would have to weigh it up.

The city council couldn't see the dollar mark so well. They voted 4-1 to reject the plan, saying it didn't fit the city. One city council member said the casino plan was not the kind of business that a growing city like Antioch would bring. Council member Arne Simonsen voted against it alone, saying the city should at least leave its options open.

Xianpitch and Shea also asked Congress to give their support to a petition seeking to put Las Vegas-style gambling on a statewide ballot. Thanks to Xianpitch's lobbying efforts, Antioch has added to a list of 12 cities (including Oakland and San Jose) where it can play a wide range of gambling games, including roulette, craps and slots.

Members of Congress, who were unable to do anything, showed support for Xianpich's idea by approving a motion to remove the city from voting initiatives. 실시간 바카라사이트
