Melco Resort Launches Studio City Cinema On June 26

Melco Resorts & Entertainment, the majority owner of Studio City Casino Resort in Kotai, said the hotel's movie theater opening will take place on June 26.

According to a press release Monday, "Studio City Cinema" will be located in the second phase of the complex near Epic Tower and Hotel W, which opened last year.

The new cinema will include "Macao and Hong Kong's first Dolby Cinema" with 338 seats, the company said.

Melco Resorts said the movie theater has a capacity of 770 and consists of nine rooms, including five VIP suites and a screening room with "dedicated pair seating."

The operator explained, "The center is Dolby Cinema, which combines Dolby Atmos' immersive sound with a remarkable painting of a special theater designed by Dolby to provide the most immersive experience."

Melco Resorts expects Studio City Cinema to "further diversify and enhance" the building's entertainment options and "provide the most amazing movie experience for citizens, tourists, and movie lovers alike."

The announcement quoted Kevin Benning, Studio City's senior vice president and general manager of real estate, as saying, "The new cinema destination will complement Studio City's incredibly diverse and global collection of modern leisure and lifestyle experiences."

He added: "Melco will continue to contribute to promoting Macau as a world center of tourism and leisure through the delivery of innovative and global entertainment and hospitality experiences."

Melco Resorts has invested approximately $1.2 billion in the entire second phase of Studio City, complementing two new hotel towers and an indoor water park.
