G2E Asia 2014 Large Testing Organization

This year's G2E Asia will be the largest ever, says Michael Johnson, vice president of G2E event industry at co-host Reed Exhibitions.

The annual trade show and conference event will be held in Macau, Venice, from tomorrow to Thursday. It is co-hosted by Reed Exhibitions and the American Game Association.

"This is going to be our biggest G2E Asia," says Mr. Johnson. There are 160 exhibition companies for which G2E Asia last represents over 8,500 sq. m of booth space. The last time G2E Asia exceeded 8,000 sq. m was in 2008.

"These figures include 50 new companies that weren't on the show last year, and we're all showing a fairground that's more than 20 percent larger than a year ago," he says. Sega Sammy Creation Inc., a Japanese game console manufacturer, will have its first show in G2E Asia, and Alfastreet Gaming Instruments will be back.

Organizers are expecting about 6,500 visitors.

Last year, G2E Asia welcomed 5,851 attendees, up 16 percent year-on-year. A total of 139 companies exhibited there.

Visitors can expect to see many new products at this year's show. Mr. Johnson said, "They are about 100 new products that we know are being introduced this year, but not all exhibitors announce the details in advance. Some like to keep it a secret, so that's even more surprising."

He also highlights the number of high-profile speakers who will attend the three-day conference. MGM China Holdings Ltd. Co-Chairperson Pansy Ho Chiu King will serve as this year's conference keynote speaker.

Others speaking include Wynn Macao Ltd Gamal Aziz, MGM China CEO Grant Bowie, and Las Vegas Sands Corp.'s senior vice president of global gaming strategy.

The possibility of legalizing casinos in Japan has been a hot topic in the global gaming industry in recent months. Mr. Johnson says there is a growing interest from Japanese exhibitors and visitors in G2E Asia this year.

"We are happy to welcome a very large delegation from Japan, and we will be holding a private reception for those people on Wednesday," he said. "We are also seeing much more interest in exhibition spaces from Japanese suppliers."

Mr Johnson added: "If the Japanese really choose to pursue an integrated casino resort, we will pursue an independent G2E Japan conference in Tokyo."
