Coach Kim Pan-gon is passionate and serious about soccer
Ulsan HD defensive leader Kim Young-kwon expected to work with Kim Pan-gon, the new coach.
Ulsan won 1-0 with a lucky own goal in the 26th round home game of "Hana Bank K League 1 2024" held at Munsu Football Stadium on Sunday. Ulsan, which had recently lost two consecutive league games and was lagging behind in the lead race, added three more points to rank third (13 wins, six draws and seven losses, 45 points).
Ulsan, which had been in disarray since Hong Myung-bo's departure recently, has lost two consecutive games under acting coach Lee Kyung-soo, being eliminated from the competition to lead the team. Since then, the team has appointed Kim Pan-gon, who had remarkable performances in the Malaysian national team, as its new head coach (Expoch News reported on July 16). Kim, who served in Ulsan while he was active, has become the first official coach of the team.
Coach Kim activated a 4-4-2 formation on the day. Cho Hyun-woo defended the goal, and Lee Myung-jae, Kim Young-kwon, Kim Ki-hee and Yoon Il-rok made up the back four. Rubik's Son, Jung Woo-young, Ko Seung-beom and Um Won-sang worked together in the midfield, and Kang Yoon-gu and Joo Min-kyu made the front two-top to score.
His performance did not overwhelm Daegu. However, he garnered three points with his lucky own goal. In the 31st minute of the first half, Ko Seung-bum's low and fast cross hit Daegu center back Ko Myung-seok's foot. He allowed Daegu several chances, but Cho's decisive defense allowed the team to win. It gave Kim a chance to win at his debut match in Ulsan.
It was also Kim's return to injury. Kim has not played in nearly two months since a game against Jeonbuk Hyundai in early June. After recovering from injury, Kim contributed to Kim's scoreless victory in his debut match.
Kim Young-kwon, who met with reporters in the mixed zone (joint coverage area) after the game, said, "As the players prepared, of course, there were some shortcomings, but I still showed a lot of things that I tried to do. It means a lot to me that I won without losing a point through that."
When asked how he was doing during the injury period, Kim said, "I tried to come back as soon as possible, but it was a little later than I thought. I had difficulties, but when I came back, I tried hard not to get the same injury. Fortunately, I was able to finish the game well without any pain."
"It's not 100% yet since I came back after two months, but I think it's only starting now. There will also be a series of matches starting next week. But I think it's over 80% now. I think we need to raise it to 100%," he added.
Kim Young-kwon couldn't rest properly from the Asian Cup in January until June when he was out due to injury. Rather, he had time to rest due to injury.
Kim Young-kwon said, "It's a pity that I got hurt, but I think it was a good break for me. If I only focused on soccer, I had a lot of rest time besides thinking about soccer because of this injury."
As for coach Kim, who is newly leading the team, he said, "He has a lot of passion and is serious about soccer. He knew our players and members well. As soon as the coach came, he told us that the team was enough to win. The players are aware of that, and we are trying to play as many games as we can dominate in the stadium."
Regarding Kim's declaration of an infinite competition system in the face of promising players such as Kang Min-woo, Kim Young-kwon said, "I think we have always competed since Coach Hong Myung-bo's time because our players are so thick. I think the coach is trying to alert us," adding, "For sure, in that regard, they think, 'All players should do the same no matter which player goes on the field. They help us prepare so much." 에볼루션 바카라사이트
