Paradise Co reopens 3 casinos after weeks of safety shutdown

Paradise Inc., which operates foreigner-only casinos in South Korea, has confirmed to reopen the remaining three of its four gaming venues in South Korea from 6 a.m. on Monday (April 20) after a nearly month-long suspension amid the global threat of COVID-19, the novel coronavirus and its related infection.

But on Monday, Grand Korea Leisure Inc., another foreigner-only casino operator affiliated with the Korea Tourism Organization, the official tourism agency of Korea, announced that it was extending the temporary closure of the group's three gaming sites until 6 a.m. on May 6.

Paradise Casino in Paradise City Resort in Incheon, Paradise Casino Walkerhill in Seoul, and Paradise Casino in the port city of Busan are some of the sites that reopened Monday. Paradiseco started the game last week at the Jeju Grand, a semi-autonomous resort in Jeju.

Initially, all four game venues were suspended for two weeks from March 24, and the shutdown was extended for a certain period of time after that.

Market rival Grand Korea Leisure operates three foreigner-only casinos in Korea under the Seven Luck brand, with two in Seoul and one in Busan. In its most recent filing, the company said it expects casino loss sales, as measured from Mar. 24, to reach 57.8 billion won ($47.4 million). It noted that it is based on the group's daily casino revenue for all of 2019.

South Korea on Sunday confirmed 13 new cases of COVID-19 infections, according to data from the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Until then, the country's total number of infections had risen to 10,674, including 1,006 people categorized as imports. 동행복권파워볼
