City Council Against Camrose Casino Relocation

After many Edmonton residents spoke out against the relocation of Camrose Casino to their neighborhood, the City Council declared its dissatisfaction with the plan. This week, the City Council sent a list to the Alberta Game Liquor and Cannabis Commission over concerns about a casino in southeast Edmonton. The letter was also signed by Mayor Amarze Sohi.

Earlier this month, Capital City Casino filed an application with the city of Edmonton to relocate its Camrose casino property to southeast Edmonton. The new casino will be located in an open area on Parsons Road, with 550 slot machines and 25 table games, as well as show lounges, theaters, hotels and conference areas.

However, shortly after news about the possible relocation of the Camrose Casino, several charities and residents of Edmonton voiced their opposition to the plan. Most recently, the City Council also announced it was siding with the community on the issue, sending AGLC a list of concerns about the impact of Capital City casinos maintaining rural licenses after the possibility of relocation.

In the letter, the commission says authorizing the transfer of casinos to Edmonton without city licenses will not have a positive impact on community organizations. Indeed, the Commission noted that the move would result in a net loss of existing revenue to local charities, as it would mean more casino properties competing in the same area.

In addition to this, Congress has blamed Crown Corporation for the community feedback window, which concluded on 10 August 2022. The council said it was inappropriate to brief for a short period of time and that the city council held it at the same time as a summer break. The AGLC mentioned that it has received feedback and will now consider it before making a decision.

On Wednesday, Mayor Sohi shared his concerns that a new casino in Edmonton could siphon millions of dollars from local charities. He wants to make sure charities are properly supported, so the city has decided to support the community on this issue, and wants to hear the voices of residents and organizations before making a decision. 파워볼사이트

South Edmontonians are also not happy with the news that the 60,000-square-foot gaming business could be relocated to their neighborhood. Neil Richards, a local, said casinos would make already boring traffic worse. He lives only two kilometers from the place, and believes that nothing good can come from there.

Starting July 18, 2022, with Grand Villa Casino Edmonton reopening, Edmonton gamblers will have even more gaming options to choose from. The casino is operated by Gateway Casino & Entertainment, and is now back on an improved gaming floor. The casino is located at 10204 104 Ave (Rogers Place), where locals and visitors can now enjoy premium gambling and dining amenities once again.
