The role of guides and the expedition team in the trip
From my experience, on polar trips, the guides and expedition team are basically the backbone of the whole journey. I was on a polar cruise a while back, and without the team, it would’ve felt like just a boat in a lot of ice. The guides explained wildlife behavior, helped with landings, and were constantly watching weather and ice conditions. What I liked most was how approachable they were — you could just chat with them over coffee and learn random things you wouldn’t get from a brochure. When I was researching beforehand, I found https://www.polarcruises.tours/ useful to understand how expedition teams are structured and what roles they usually have. It helped set expectations, but real life was even better because of the people onboard.
