Is a PIM tool useful for small businesses or only large companies?

I’ve been wondering lately if a PIM tool is actually useful for a small business, or if it only starts making sense when a company has thousands of products and a big team. I help manage a small online store with around 180 items, and even with that number we already have product photos, sizes, descriptions, supplier notes, and different marketplace requirements scattered everywhere. Last week we updated a few descriptions in one place but forgot another, and it made me think maybe our “simple spreadsheet system” is not as simple as it looks. Has anyone here used a PIM before at a smaller scale?
