Lucky you! My Mother-in-Law's moved in (lovely woman!) but my routines are suffering! :o)
EXERCISE 3
This has blended better than I thought it would - although your mid-section always looked good. Your lack of dark values at the left has resulted in the cylinder not looking as curved as it might have done - but it's OK. Even your over-strong lines have almost disappeared.
When you are shading and intend to blend, it's your initial careful application that counts. It has to be consistent, smooth and devoid of gaps. Blending can smooth but it cannot fill gaps, completely dilute over-strong lines or hide blunt ends, so try to avoid all three.
