EXERCISE 2 - FIRE
<< Well it is Christmas time. So time to hang the stockings and bring in the Poinsettia! >>
I like this for its mix of pattern and balance.

The toes of the two stockings both point my way to the fire. They're similar enough to present a pattern, which the human mind loves to seek, but sufficiently different to not look like unnatural mirror-images.

If my eye strays to the mantelshelf it's attracted by the Poinsettia, which turns my eye around and again directs it to the fire. And the Poinsettia nicely balances the diagonally placed arrangement. And the arrangement itself (a sleigh with foliage?) has an uninteresting base, not a lot of interest at the left, but plenty to see as my eye travels up and right... back to the fire that it frames.

Nicely done!
