EXERCISE 5
<< Ok, so I’m ‘fessing up right now that I’ve cheated. I traced the outline of the plate and stand, because I figured if I started off with that wrong, it could only go downhill. But I did draw everything inside... It’s been a wonderful exercise, even though not sure it was what you intended. >>

Wonderful work, Pat!. I'm not at all bothered by how you achieved the end result, That you found a good use for the card is sufficient. And you've clearly understood the principle of using negative space.

With time and practice you'll find you will be able to switch between positive and negative as you work - so practice is well worthwhile. Using negative space often provides answers to problems that the positive way creates. And you'll gradually find you can see negative space without using something like the card, although there will be times you'll find that useful.
