PO103 Compose Original Art

With Tannis Trydal

7 weeks   Technical 6   Open 2

In this course you will be shown how to take a simple thought or idea, through a planning stage then finally into a completed artwork. This process can also be adapted and used to produce private or corporate commissioned artworks. To achieve this goal, we will be looking at various ways that ideas for subject matter are formed, begin to study the rules of composition using pencil and paper, then you will get to show up at the canvas to paint original artworks in the later part of the course.

Study of units 1,2, 3 and 5 of the 'Draw and Paint in Your Pyjamas' art course, is recommended prior to beginning this course if you are an absolute beginner to drawing or painting. If you haven’t studied these units you are more than welcome to enter this course if you feel you have a good understanding of outline drawing, the theory of light and shade, perspective knowledge and proportion skills as well as acrylic painting experience. If you would like a second opinion on your skill level please contact Cindy for advice before you enrol into this course.

You will need to set aside a minimum of 2 to 4 hours per week and possibly more in the final two weeks of the course.
