I use indenting as a tool of last resort. It is superb at doing what it does but it's far too easy to overuse it. So, I always look for other techniques first.
Yes - like an airplane landing and taking off. A taper on both ends. One end as the final taper on the hair. The beginning taper, so I can blend it into the adjoining drawing.
